Dear Cousins Amy and Marcus,
How do you like the looks of your fathers old home and how did you get through on your trip. I hope you got through on time without accident. Did the road run along the Erie canal. Howard says he went once on the N.Y. and Erie R.R. and it followed the canal and went slower than a rainy day. A rainy day wouldn’t be so bad here now as the dust is bad. I came home Friday night and walked home after 10:20 P.M. It was nice and cool and I knew the dust and heat would be fearful the next day. Neal is going back tomorrow and Mother didn’t get that girl but seems much better than when we left for C. One of Marcus’ shirts and I guess a package he bought in C. are in my gripe which I left at the depot in Stockton. I’m going up tomorrow. Well I saw a league game of base ball Thursday P.M. between Chicago and Boston. Chicago won 5 to 2. It was very interesting to me.
With all their tinkering my plate don’t fit as well as it did before and I shall have to go back to the dentist again. He said if it wasn’t right he would try it again and make me an upper plate of rubber also. He says gold plate is much harder to fit.
Perhaps when you get ready to come back I can meet you in Chicago but you will have to give me two weeks notice and come just after pay day. The 5th or 20th of any month. Much love to you both and write us as soon and often as you can and let us know how you enjoy the trip.
Your cousin Will.
